GLC welcomes individuals from all professional and community backgrounds who share a passion for literacy and a commitment to Gary's future. Previous nonprofit board experience is welcome but not required.

We're looking for people who:

  • Can help connect GLC with community resources and partnerships

What Does Board Service Involve?

  • Attend regular board meetings
  • Serve on at least one committee
  • Support fundraising efforts
  • Make the Gary Literacy Coalition one of your annual charitable giving priorities at a level meaningful to you
  • Serve as an ambassador for literacy in the community
  • Prepare for meetings by reviewing materials in advance
  • Uphold confidentiality and ethical standards
